上转换发光是基于双光子或多光子过程,发光ZX相继吸收两个或者多个光子,经过无辐射弛豫达到发光能级,从而跃迁至基态产生短波长光子,即将低频率激发光转换成高频率发射光。
影响稀土氟化物纳米材料发光性能的因素主要是基质材料、敏化剂和激活剂。目前氟化物基质材料研究的主要是XLnF4和LnF3,其中Z为常见的是NaYF4和LaF3,声子能均小于400cm-1,有利于提供合适的晶体场,降低无辐射跃迁的几率,同时激活剂容易进行掺杂。稀土离子在氟化物中具有较长的寿命,形成更多的亚稳能级,产生丰富的能级跃迁。掺杂离子对上转换的发光扮演着极为关键的角色,当前研究主要集中在Er3+、Tm3+、Ho3+掺杂。稀土Yb3+的激发光波长是980nm,吸收截面大,是Z为常用且有效的上转换敏化剂。当Yb3+和其它稀土离子共掺杂到材料中,激发Yb3+离子,能量传递引起光子叠加效应使得上转换发光效率大大提高。
