Description
Blasticidin S HCl is a broad spectrum nucleoside antibiotic commonly used in gene selection applications and has demonstrated fungicidal activity in plants against rice blast disease.  Blasticidin S HCl is soluble in aqueous solution.
Mechanism
Blasticidin S inhibits protein synthesis by interfering with peptide bond formation in the ribosome during translation.
