描述：Magnesium iodide is an air-sensitive ionic solid that reacts with cyclic sulfates of vic-diols to produce corresponding olefins in excellent yields. Magnesium iodide can also be used to prepare compounds for organic synthesis, and has been shown to be very useful in the Baylis-Hillman reaction.
