AdTx1 is stabilized by four disulfide bridges and belongs to the family of the three-finger-fold peptide. AdTx1 has subnanomolar affinity (K(i)= 0.35 nM) and high specificity for the human alpha(1A)-adrenoceptor subtype and is 1000 times more potent on this subtype than on other adrenoceptor subtypes. AdTx1is a potent relaxant of smooth muscles.
