The 21-peptide QEKQNTVATAHAGFFLRENEG is an analog of the amino acid sequence (159-178) of the human 55 kD TNF receptor. It binds with remarkable activity and specifity to human TNF-α and inhibits TNF-α cytotoxicity in vitro. The results suggest that this fragment contains the specific TNF-α binding site of the 55 kD TNF receptor.
