SODIUM ACETATE TRIHYDRATE and SODIUM ACETATE anhydrous are salts compossed of sodium and acetate. Acetate is a common anion in biology. It is a provider of sodium, which is important for osmostatic balance, and acetate anion, which is the source of cabon and hence the energy. In addition to this, acetate can provide good buffering capacity. Sodium acetate is a widely used reagent in molecular biology and is extensively used as a buffer agent in conjunction with acetic acid with useful range of pH 3.6 - 5.6 and pKa at 4.76 (acetic acid). In organism, it is mainly utilized in the form of acetyl coenzyme A. In biology SODIUM ACETATE is used in DNA and RNA isolation.
