产品背景介绍:Semaphorins are a family of cell surface and secreted proteins that are conserved from insects to humans. Members of this family of proteins are approximately 750 amino acids in length (including signal sequences) and are defined by a conserved extracellular “semaphorin” domain of approximately 500 amino acids containing 14-16 cysteines, blocks of conserved sequences and no obvious repeats. Secreted and cell-bound semaphorins chemically attract and repel the growth of neural axons, guiding the development of intricate networks of neural tissue. SEMA (Semaphorin-), also known as semF or SEMAF (Semaphorin-F), is 1074 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that belongs to the semaphorin family and is involved in axonal guidance cue in mammalian midbrain neurons. Sema promotes multiple functional responses through a plexin-B3 receptor.Function : Members of the semaphorin protein family are involved in axonal guidance during neural development. Semaphorin 5a is thought to have a bifunctional role in axon guidance, exerting both attractive and inhibitory effects on developing axons associated with limbic function. The thrombospondin repeats of Semaphorin 5a physically interact with both heparan sulfate proteoglycans and chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans, inducing attractive and inhibitory guidance cues, respectively. The biological responses to Semaphorin 5a are induced through binding to its high-affinity receptor, plexin B3, triggering intracellular signaling through Met.Subcellular Location : Membrane; single-pass type I membrane protein
