Alterations ａnd deletions of the FHIT gene are strongly linked to the genesis ａnd establishment of human tumors of the lung, cervix, breast, colon, stomach ａnd pancreas. In normal cells, FHIT may act as a tumor suppressor. FHIT physically associates with ubiquitin conjugating enzyme 9.Subunit : Homodimer.Subcellular Location : Cytoplasm.Tissue Specificity : Low levels expressed in all tissues tested. Phospho-FHIT observed in liver ａnd kidney, but not in brain ａnd lung. Phospho-FHIT undetected in all tested human tumor cell lines.Similarity : Contains 1 HIT domain.
