药物代谢PCR芯片可用于研究参与药物代谢、有毒化学物质、激素和微量元素重要的药理学、内分泌学和食品科学有关的84个关键基因的表达。药物代谢也经常涉及许多疾病状态包括癌症、毒理、上瘾和代谢疾病。芯片上的基因编码的酶对药物运输(如金属硫和P-糖蛋白),I期新陈代谢(特别是P450家族),II期代谢(如转移酶和水解酶)有重要作用。通过实时定量PCR的方法,研究者即能够利用该芯片简单可靠地同时检测与药物代谢有关的基因表达。
